Department of Pediatrics

As one of the major clinical departments of Capitol Medical Center, the Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering compassionate pediatric health care. With over a hundred competent and ethical general pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists, our department continues to render quality service within a variety of emergency, ambulatory, in-patient and community settings.

Capitol Medical Center is a tertiary hospital accredited by the Department of Health and PhilHealth since 2006. Our Pediatric ward provides holistic and quality care to both private and service patients, in all pediatric age groups including adolescents. We cater to both well and high-risk babies through our fully functional Newborn Care Complex. We also have a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and equipment to provide medical services to patients with potential and evident critical and life-threatening conditions.

The Pediatric section of the Emergency Department provides a venue for immediate evaluation and treatment of patients, prioritizing those who need urgent care. It also functions as an accredited animal bite center. Our department provides ambulatory care in our Medical Arts Building where pediatric patients are seen by a variety of board-certified pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. In the Pediatric Out-Patient Department, our pediatric residents also cater to our service patients, package deal babies, children of CMC employees and indigent service patients from our partner communities by providing free well-baby check-up, free routine immunization and free teleconsultation of sick patients.

Capitol Medical Center continues to grow as an institution. For this year, Capitol Medical Center is currently constructing a Prefab building which will house different specialty clinics intended for patients who do not want to enter the hospital premises. We wish to take part in this endeavor by providing a clinic for both general pediatrics and other pediatric subspecialities as well as establishing our own Adolescent clinic, Child Psychiatry clinic and Developmental Pediatrics unit.

These are the services of our department and we extend these by embracing a social responsibility ethic by providing health care services, expertise and advocacies to our partner communities. In order to maintain the quality of the pediatric health care that we provide, our department also has a comprehensive and progressive pediatric residency training program to mold highly competent, ethical and professional future pediatricians.

Through all of these, we continue to strive to provide excellent healthcare for the children of this community.
